BYBI Beauty is a UK-based natural skincare brand that launched at Target earlier this year. Natural, vegan and cruelty-free, BYBI skincare products include nourishing vitamins & minerals, microbiome-balancing formulas and active potent ingredients for healthy, happy skin.
Not only is BYBI focused on optimizing skin health and wellness with effective formulations but also use climate conscious, low-carbon production methods to keep our planet safer and healthy. Not to mention, the cute, colorful and eco-friendly packaging adds to this sustainable brand’s appeal! And it’s affordable too…the entire range of BYBI skincare at Target is between $10 and $25!
I have been trying out a selection of BYBI skincare products over the last few weeks and will be sharing my honest thoughts in this review….let’s take a look!
BYBI Bakuchiol Booster ($9.99)
Bakuchiol Booster is a natural and gentle alternative to retinol (vitamin A) that does not cause irritation. Research has shown that Bakuchiol stimulates collagen production and improves skin texture and firmness, without any negative side effects of dry/flaky skin and irritation that often come with retinol.
This night-time booster serum contains 1% Bakuchiol in a base of moisturizing squalane derived from olives – these are the only 2 ingredients in the formula! Lightweight and quick-absorbing, it has a silky texture that leaves my skin feeling smooth and hydrated.
I have been using retinol for a few years and for my 40+ skin, this Bakuchiol booster is not a replacement for retinol but it’s a gentle anti-ager that I can still easily incorporate in my routine.
This booster is perfect for sensitive skin types and also for those with younger skin under 30…it’s a good way to start as a preventative anti-aging product (without the irritation) In fact, it’s moisturizing thanks to squalane oil and can be either used on its own or added to your existing skincare products. You can mix 2-3 drops into your serums, moisturizers or masks to enhance their performance.
BYBI Acid Gold AHA Face Mask ($22.99)
Acid Gold is an exfoliating & brightening face mask packed with natural AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) and fruit enzymes to banish dulling, dead skin cells.
Formulated with a potent blend of AHAs including lactic (derived from bilberry extract), glycolic (derived from sugar cane extract), malic and tartaric (derived from sugar maple extract), this mask clarifies and exfoliates while improving skin tone & texture.
Along with AHAs, Acid Gold also contains papain (papaya) enzyme that works to reduce bacteria in the skin and prevent breakouts. Plus, the formula has moisturizing agents like glycerin, antioxidant-rich pumpkin seed oil and sea buckthorn oil (loaded with omegas and vitamins A, C & E) so it won’t strip or dry out the skin.
Acid Gold mask has a thick jelly texture with a gorgeous golden yellow color (that comes from sea buckthorn oil). I just apply a thin layer, leave on for 15-20 minutes before rinsing off and then follow up with a soothing serum and moisturizer like Night Nutrition. It’s best to use this mask (or any acid-based exfoliant for that matter!) at night as AHAs can increase skin’s sensitivity to sun.
I did not experience any tingling but if you are new to AHAs, there might be a slight tingle which is normal. That said, if you have sensitive skin, this mask might not be suitable for you as it contains essential oils which can potentially cause irritation.
I found Acid Gold to be effective yet gentle, and not at all drying, harsh or irritating. It leaves my skin feeling clear, soft and smooth with a healthy glow.
This mask is a great option for all skin types, especially when your skin is looking dull, lackluster, clogged or blemish-prone. I do wish they hadn’t included citrus essential oils in the formula as they can be irritating for sensitive skin!
BYBI Day Glow Brightening AHA tonic ($16.99)
Gentle enough for every skin type, this toner contains lactic acid (a gentler AHA) that chemically exfoliates dead skin cells for brighter, smoother skin. Plus, it has anti-inflammatory shiitake and reishi mushrooms paired with antioxidant white tea extract and Melissa floral water that hydrate, soothe skin and reduce redness.
It has a lightweight gel like texture that absorbs quickly without a tacky feel. Day Glow toner is gentle enough to use daily (unless you have super sensitive skin) and provides mild exfoliation. The formula is also slightly hydrating and works well as a soothing base for the rest of your skincare routine. Suitable for all skin types.
Night Nutrition Restoring Protein Night Cream ($25.99)
Antioxidants, essential fatty acids, vitamins, ceramides – Night Nutrition has it all! Like a smoothie for your skin, this nourishing night cream contains a blend of superfood ingredients like broccoli seed oil (rich in omega fatty acids), raspberry seed oil, mango seed butter, oat kernel oil and hydrolyzed proteins from kale, lemon and carrot to repair, revitalize and strengthen skin while you sleep.
Texture-wise, the formula is rich and creamy without being thick or heavy. It feels so nice and soothing going on the skin and absorbs easily without any greasiness. And a little goes a long way!
This is a great night cream for all skin types, particularly dry, sensitive or irritated skin. If you have oily skin, this cream can be used as an overnight sleeping mask whenever your skin is need of a moisture surge. Also, this cream doesn’t contain any essential oils so it’s great for sensitive skin and pregnant or breastfeeding women.
