hydrating skin tints for sheer, glowy, no-makeup makeup that’s easy! And that’s exactly what the new elf Halo Glow Skin Tint SPF 50 is all about!
When it comes to summer makeup must-haves, a good skin tint tops the list for me. I loveelf Halo Glow Skin Tint delivers light, buildable coverage with a natural dewy finish – plus zinc oxide mineral SPF 50 broad-spectrum (UVA & UVB protection) sunscreen without any white cast. Infused with niacinamide plus bisabolol and allantoin, the lightweight, hydrating formula sinks in like your fave skincare for a barely-there feel and naturally glowing complexion. It’s also non-comedogenic and water-resistant up to 80 minutes.
elf Halo Glow Skin Tint comes in 18 flexible shades and the shade lineup is divided into 6 numbered ranges: Fair, Light, Medium, Tan, Deep and Rich as well as warm, cool and neutral undertones to help you find your match. I tried the shade 7 Medium Warm and it turned out to be a really good match for my skin tone.
Key Ingredients:
12% Zinc oxide: Mineral SPF 50
Niacinamide: Helps brighten skin tone
Bisabolol and Allantoin: Help soothe skin
What I like about elf Halo Glow Skin Tint:
- It contains skin-loving ingredients like Niacinamide, Bisabolol and Allantoin.
- It also contains non-nano zinc oxide mineral SPF 50 that leaves no white cast or greasy residue.
- It has a lightweight, serum-like texture that glides on smoothly and blends easily with fingertips or a makeup sponge.
- For a skin tint, the coverage is quite impressive! It provides light-to-medium coverage that smooths and evens out my skin tone beautifully, making my hyperpigmentation and acne scars much less noticeable.
- The formula is buildable so if I want more coverage, I just let the first layer settle and then tap on a little more where needed.
- When used with a hydrating primer, it gives me a natural satin finish.
- The coverage feels comfortable/breathable and stays put all day long.
- The formula is fragrance-free.
What I don’t like about elf Halo Glow Skin Tint
- I didn’t find the formula particularly hydrating, even though it claims to be! More than that, I am a bit disappointed that it doesn’t give my skin a glowing or dewy finish. I have naturally dry skin and love that “lit-from-within”glow but this skin tint gives me more of a satin finish which I like (but not love!) However, I think the finish will be more dewy for those with normal to combination or oily skin
To be honest, somehow I was hoping (too optimistically I guess!) that this new elf Halo Glow Skin Tint might be similar to the Saie Slip Tint which is my favorite hydrating skin tint and gives me a healthy, dewy glow that looks natural. But sadly, the elf skin tint didn’t live up to my expectations in terms of giving my (dry) skin a healthy glow.
Although the elf skin tint offers mineral SPF 50 protection, I don’t prefer using any product with this level of coverage as my main sunscreen in the morning especially in summer. After applying my usual sunscreen, I use a small amount of this skin tint, just enough to make my skin tone look more even while the extra dose of SPF it offers is a bonus.
elf Halo Glow Skin Tint is not like those tinted sunscreens that are super sheer with almost zero coverage (case in point: my favorite First Aid Beauty Weightless Liquid Mineral SPF 30) so I can easily apply a couple of layers. In case you are not familiar, the recommended amount of sunscreen for face is roughly a nickel-sized dollop, or about 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon. That said, elf skin tint is very lightweight and buildable so it can be used as your only sunscreen if you want!
Bottom Line
elf Halo Glow Skin Tint SPF 50 gives your skin light, buildable coverage that helps even out the appearance of your skin tone without feeling heavy or cakey. Plus, it’s packed with hydrating ingredients like Niacinamide and allantoin for skincare benefits. Not to mention, it also delivers zinc oxide based mineral SPF 50 protection with no white cast.
This skin tint is perfect for those no-makeup makeup days or when you want that ‘your-skin-but-better’ look with a naturally radiant finish and extra SPF protection!
