I can’t believe it’s already (almost) end of August! Where is the summer going?!! I know, I know I am a little late for this summer makeup favorites post, but better late than never right?
Summer brings a more laid back and casual vibe that I love! For me, it’s all about easy-breezy makeup that’s comfortable to wear. And this year, I’ve scaled back even a bit more and there have been many no-makeup days in the last few months (thanks to the stay-at-home situation!)

My favorite foundations (like the Estee Lauder one pictured below) are lucky if I take them for a spin at all and it’s actually been kind of refreshing. However, there are a few products that I’ve been reaching for a minimalist makeup look this summer….let’s get into the details!
Summer Makeup Favorites
Florence by mills Like a Light Skin Tint ($18, currently on sale for only $9 at Ulta)
This is a hydrating tinted moisturizer with sheer to light coverage that evens out my skin tone beautifully with a natural dewy finish. The finish isn’t overly dewy but just enough to give my skin a healthy glow. Perfect for an easy summer makeup look!
Plus, it’s infused with several good-for-your-skin moisturizing ingredients like oat extract, squalane, jojoba oil, hyaluronic acid, vitamin E. If you have dry skin like me, this one is sure to please! Read my full review here.
Maybelline Dream Urban Cover Foundation SPF 50 ($10.99)
With its super lightweight texture and high SPF, this one ticks all the right boxes for a great summer foundation. Of course, makeup with SPF is great but you don’t want to rely on it as your only sunscreen. Studies show that you need seven times the amount of foundation that you normally apply to get the SPF that is on the bottle!
This Maybelline foundation provides medium coverage with a natural-looking matte finish that stays put. Plus, the formula contains antioxidants to protect against pollution.
Maybelline Cheek Heat Sheer Gel-Cream Blush ($5.98)
This gel cream blush adds a sheer pop of color with a soft dewy glow. I just squeeze 1 – 2 dots onto fingers, tap along the cheekbones and then blend. It’s oil-free, super lightweight and a little goes a long way! I have the shade 20 Rose Flush (peachy pink).
Urban Decay All Nighter Primer ($36)
This UD primer does a great job of smoothing my skin’s texture and creates a satiny base that holds onto makeup well. The formula is really lightweight so it doesn’t feel like I’m wearing an extra layer under my makeup. It goes on sheer and doesn’t have that overly-slick silicone texture. My full review here.
Covergirl Clean Fresh Cooling Glow Stick ($7.69)
This is a shimmer highlighter stick that applies with a subtle cooling effect on skin. It’s quite pigmented and blends out easily with fingers, adding a luminous glow. The finish is glowy but not glittery and holds up well through the day. My favorite shade is Pink Thrill…take a look here!
Urban Decay Vice Lip Chemistry ($22)
This lip tint feels like a lightweight gloss going on the lips but not at all sticky or tacky. It gives my lips a pretty pop of color with a glossy shine— while also being comfortable to wear with a lightly hydrating formula.
My favorite shades are Physique (terracotta nude) and Stacked (warm mauve) See all the swatches here. Although not super long-wearing, these are perfect for everyday wear with color, shine and hydration!
ChapStick Total Hydration Complete Care SPF 15 + Color ($6.99)
It’s so hard to find a good tinted lip balm with mineral SPF at the drugstore but this new one by Chapstick has everything – hydration, color and sun protection at an affordable price! The SPF 15 (wish that was higher!) comes from zinc oxide and most of the ingredients are natural like shea butter, coconut, jojoba and argan oil.
Not to mention, it comes in 3 pretty shades (Pink, Peach and Berry) with a great color payoff that lasts long! I have the Pink shade (it has a cooler tone) and just got the Peach too which is warmer in tone.
I also wanted to mention 2 of my most used tinted lip balms over the last two months – Pacifica Lavender Moon Lip Treatment ($13) and IT cosmetics Je Ne Sais Quoi Hydrating Lip Treatment ($25). Both are super hydrating and feel like a luxe treat for lips!
Borboleta Lash Serum ($65)
I recently discovered this lash serum which is designed to help you achieve longer, thicker and darker lashes. Formulated with biotin, keratin, & peptides, this nourishing serum is clinically tested and cruelty-free. You just need one swipe every night to get noticeably fuller, lush lashes in 4-8 weeks! I love how easy it is to use and the formula is also fragrance-free.
So, these are some of my summer makeup favorites! Do you have any go-to summer products that you love?
