If I had to pick one skincare line that has never disappointed, it has to be Paula’s Choice! Even though I am constantly testing out various new skincare products for the blog, there are always at least one or two Paula’s Choice products in my beauty routine. And today I am reviewing another fabulous find from the brand – Paula’s Choice RESIST Super-Light Daily Wrinkle Defense SPF 30 which is a new daytime moisturizer with sunscreen designed specifically for combination to oily and breakout-prone skin.
So, why did I order this for my dry skin? Because I am really struggling (again) with breakouts and this time it’s the worst I’ve ever had (I did some research and found that it may have been triggered by the diet changes I have made because of my Celiac problem). And I am so glad I got this one because I love the formula and will def be buying it again even when those nasty breakouts have subsided (hopefully soon!)

Ingredients :
Active Ingredient: Zinc Oxide 13% (broad-spectrum sunscreen agent).
Other Ingredients: Water, Cyclopentasiloxane (silicone slip agent), PEG/PPG-18/18 Dimethicone (silicone-based thickener), Dimethicone Crosspolymer (silicone suspending agent), PEG-12 Dimethicone (silicone-based thickener), Resveratrol, Quercetin, Epigallocatechin Gallate (antioxidants), Tocopheryl Acetate (vitamin E/antioxidant), Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate (vitamin C/antioxidant), Adenosine (cell-communicating ingredient), Lauroyl Lysine (skin-conditioning agent), Bisabolol (anti-irritant), Trihydroxystearin (thickener), Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract (anti-irritant), Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Extract (antioxidant), Haemstococcus Pluvialis Extract (astaxanthin/antioxidant), Hydrolyzed Corn Starch (thickener/mattifying agent), Polysorbate 80 (emulsifier), Hydrolyzed Silica (thickener/mattifying agent), Triethoxycaprylylsilane (silicone-based binding agent), C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate (emollient thickener), Isopropyl Titanium Triisostearate (texture enhancer), Caprylyl Glycol, Hexylene Glycol (preservatives), Sodium Chloride (stabilizer), Ethylhexylglycerin, Phenoxyethanol (preservatives), Iron Oxides (natural pigment).
As with all Paula’s Choice products, it is a multi-tasking formula that not only protects skin from sun damage (with pure, refined zinc oxide), but also fortifies it with potent antioxidants to repair and stimulate collagen production for firmer skin. True to its name, this product does have a super-lightweight feel on the skin! It has a silky lotion texture that absorbs quickly and leaves a soft matte finish. I also agree with the claim that it preps skin nicely, allowing makeup to apply smoothly and evenly, so no primer needed.
The formula is slightly tinted and blends very easily to match my light-medium skin tone. The coverage is very sheer and just evens out my skintone but that is all I need for everyday wear. Another plus of the tint is that despite a high percentage of zinc oxide, there’s no white cast to worry about!
As this product has been formulated for oily and and combination skin, I find that the finish can be a bit too mattifying for my dry skin, if I use the product alone. Also, the moisture it provides is just not enough for my skin most of the days. However, if I start with an antioxidant serum first (which should be done anyways to combat UV generated free radicals and boost skin’s ability to fight sun damage) and then apply this product, the finish is just perfect – not too matte neither oily/shiny! Plus, the combination of the serum and this SPF moisturizer keeps my dry skin feeling comfortable and hydrated all day!
Bottom Line
Paula’s Choice RESIST Super-Light Wrinkle Defense SPF 30 is an amazing mineral-based sunscreen that won’t make your oily, acne-prone skin cringe! Not only does the lightweight formula provide remarkable broad-spectrum protection without making skin more oily or triggering breakouts but it also offers anti-aging benefits and is perfectly suitable for sensitive skin or rosacea. It doesn’t feel like I am wearing sunscreen at all and love the slight tint for no white cast! You NEED to try this!

It makes a really nice face primer for makeup. I use it on days I wear foundation and/or concealer. On off days, I wear a different moisturizer. Its too heavy for my skin in the summer, when I’m very oily everywhere.

I haven’t tried this product yet, but Paula’s Choice is my go-to for skin care. Once I run out of my current moisturizer, I’ll have to get this one!
