What’s better than a full-coverage foundation that also boasts all-day hydration plus serious skincare benefits? Not much. Say hello to the new Clinique Even Better Refresh Hydrating and Repairing Makeup!
Formulated with hydrating hyaluronic acid that plumps fine dry lines, skin-smoothing peptides, brightening Niacinamide, salicylic acid that re-texturizes (exfoliates) skin plus a few antioxidants, Clinique Even Better Refresh Hydrating and Repairing Makeup has a lot going for it in terms of good-for-your-skin ingredients — talk about bang for your buck!
Makeup that’s actually good for your skin!! Who doesn’t want that? Being a skincare enthusiast, I couldn’t resist getting my hands on this new foundation (as if I need another excuse to buy more makeup ;))
Now let’s get to the review and find out if this new foundation is really worth the hype?
Clinique Even Better Refresh Hydrating and Repairing Makeup comes in an easy to use plastic squeeze tube. It has a lightweight, slightly creamy texture that applies and blends easily. As the name suggests, the formula is lightly hydrating with a satiny-smooth feel going on the skin.
It’s not overly moisturizing or rich and just provides a light dose of moisture which I think all skin types will appreciate. Did I mention this foundation is fragrance free as well?
On my dry skin (prepped with a hydrating primer first), Clinique Even Better Refresh Hydrating and Repairing Makeup dries down to a smooth matte finish – not dewy or radiant as I had hoped, going by the product name. For those with combination to oily skin, the finish might not be matte but I can’t say for sure!
True to Clinique’s claims, this foundation provides medium-to-full coverage taking care of almost every imperfection on my face from redness and blemishes to uneven skin tone. And a little goes a long way! It also promises to minimize the appearance of large pores but I didn’t notice any significant difference.
As for the longevity, this foundation is designed last a full 24 hours. Well, I never wear makeup for 24 hours straight (and you shouldn’t either!), so that’s a bit of a stretch but I did test this foundation for about 10 hours and it holds up impressively well! I didn’t notice any creasing, caking or smudging. There’s just minor fading towards the end of the day but that’s about it.
Clinique Even Better Refresh Hydrating and Repairing Makeup is available in 27 shades ranging from very fair to deep skin tones, all of which come in different undertones such as warm, cool and neutral. I bought the shade WN (Warm Neutral) 48 Oat which turned out to be a tad bit darker for me.
Also, I found it a bit too yellow for my skin tone which makes me think I shouldn’t have purchased the foundation online. I would advise getting color-matched at your local Clinique counter for the perfect match!
Bottom Line
Whether you are a skincare enthusiast like me or just want multi-tasking makeup with maximum benefits, Clinique Even Better Refresh Hydrating and Repairing Makeup fits the bill and is absolutely worth checking out!
Not only does it provide great medium to full coverage but also contains a cocktail of hydrating and skin-plumping ingredients like Hyaluronic acid, Niacinamide, peptides and Salicylic acid that actively improve your complexion for healthier, smoother skin.
